The Jeep lineup now features two plug-in electric hybrid (or PHEV) models, the Wrangler 4xe and the Grand Cherokee 4xe.While a conventional hybrid has one driving mode, a Jeep 4xe has three modes which include:
- In Electric Mode, the Jeep 4xe runs on 100% battery power for low-emissions zones throughout Meridian and Boise.
- Jeep 4xe Hybrid Mode works like a hybrid vehicle powertrain, combining both a combustion engine and a battery. The Jeep 4xe MPG in hybrid mode is 49 MPGe, which is quite impressive!
- The Jeep 4xe eSave Mode kicks in when the electric power runs out, powering the vehicle with the combustion engine while reserving battery power for later.

Jeep 4xe Hybrid Mode
Not only can you maximize the Jeep 4xe MPG in Hybrid Mode, but you also won’t have to worry about plugging in and charging your vehicle, as your vehicle will shift over to eSave Mode. The Jeep 4xe hybrid is the default setting for the 4xe model, and gives a nice balance of rapid acceleration, horsepower, torque, and more.
So, how far can you go in Hybrid Mode? The Jeep 4xe MPG in Hybrid Mode reaches 49 miles per gallon/kilowatt.
Jeep 4xe Electric Mode
As long as the electric battery charge level is at 1% or above, the battery can run on electric power and without tailpipe emissions. The Jeep 4xe models can drive for up to 21 miles in Electric Mode.
Jeep 4xe eSave Mode
In Jeep 4xe eSave Mode, the 2.0L engine provides most of the power. Switching the eSave is a good idea if you are trying to save power for a longer trip without stopping to plug in and charge.
When driving the Jeep 4xe in eSave Mode, gas mileage is 20 MPG.
